Time for Tea

Oh my goodness, I have stopped by for tea with many of you over the last few months but have been delinquent in inviting you over.  I am so glad you were able to make some time for us to sit down today. Summer is moving along much too quickly, as you know I love this time of year. One of the Facebook pages for my alma mater's football team keeps reminding us of how many days til season kickoff. While I love football season, I hate the reminders that mean the end of summer is getting closer and closer.

It's an unusually mild evening so I thought we would sit on the patio and enjoy the backyard. The 2014 bottles of Limoncello are corked and in the freezer. I thought you might like a taste with a lemon cookie since we have both already had supper.  I don't think this year's is quite as good as last but it is till quite tasty. Yes, it's a very simple process, it just takes a little time, 10 days. Here's the recipe-for-limoncello.

What have you been up to this summer? We haven't properly chatted since very early in May (when I was late for the April cuppa). I know some of you have had unseasonably warm weather. Occasionally when I see a temp in centigrade I'll use a converter to get a proper perspective. Yes, temperatures are all very relative aren't they?  For 2013 we only had 23 days at 90 or above. Only?! Our average is 47, I don't know how many we've had this year but it doesn't seem like many. That may be because we have had a run of mid 80s.  Sorry, I'm not even British and chattering on about the weather ;)

Have you been traveling? Surprisingly, we haven't. We went to Oriental for Memorial weekend and for the 4th but have pretty much stayed close to home. I was realllly feeling the need to get away and be at the beach so we headed down to Wrightsville Beach for the weekend. We were on the beach 6-7 hours each day and 2/3rds of the time I was in the water, it was heaven. I am headed back down Friday for a day trip with girlfriends...happy, happy, happy. Do you love the ocean or do you prefer the mountains? We are blessed to have both in North Carolina.

Are you participating in Rinda's 2014 photography scavenger hunt? Our crew is mainly sharing on Instagram since I am the only one with a blog, if you want to check them out The ChosenOne is sedwards62, SweetGirl is gfncgirl and SweetNiece is ccb0622. What are you most challenged by this year? For me it's the juggler and birds on a wire.

What are you up to creatively? I seem to be dabbling in several things, quilting, mixed media and cardmaking. I would love to get some pages done for our family scrapbooks, seems like there is a wedding I still need to get in an album! I'm in a craft fair in mid November so I need to decide on what I want to focus on for that. Do you go to the Christmas Markets they have in Europe? They look so amazing, I'd love to go one year.

Goodness, it's getting late and I still have to get in my evening walk. Absolutely, you can join me, just let me grab us both a water bottle!

  3. I've always wanted to go to one of the big Christmas markets. Recently here our city council has been running a small scale version and we get stall holders from Europe who come for a couple of weeks in December. It's pretty small scale, though.

  4. Lovely to pop in and share a pretty drink with you :). I've been to the Christmas markets in Munich - just wonderful, especially on frosty evenings, with the pretty lighting and a glass of glüwein in one's hand :). I do love to be at the sea too.

  5. Such a nice catch up with you today! We're counting down the days 'til football season . . . especially after our visit to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. We've had a mild summer here, only reaching triple digits a few times (so far). I was out of town 17 days in July, so I'm planning to stick close to home in August! I posted some new items for the scavenger hunt today & am finally getting in my craft room this afternoon after being gone most of the past three weeks! I'd love to go for a walk . . . . if only we were close enough to do that together! :>)

    1. Maybe some day , we can take a stroll together :) If you are like me I love the traveling but get to the point that I am sooo glad to be home. It's not unusual for me to not go ANY where for a week or so after we get back if I can help it. Hope you had glorious crafting time!
