Happy 5th!

I wish each of you could gather around the table with me and celebrate BEglorious' 5th blogoversary.  So much has happened in the last 5 years, in some ways 2008 seems like just last year and in others it seems like a lifetime. In 2008 I was still in my 40s, the Beast was almost a year out of NTI, working for a dealership and had just starting dating a girl named Ashley. The Pirate was my Baby Boy, fast approaching his 16th birthday and getting his driver's license. The Chosen One was working hard and yet to discover triathlons and running. My parents were in their 70s and the SpecialSister was doing well.  The Chosen One's parents were in their 60s and still with us. So very much has changed, so many sad days but they have been far outweighed by so many glorious ones. I was going to share some blog numbers with you but Thursday is Month in Numbers so I think I will incorporate them there!

I have quite a few things I love about blogging, here are a few...
1. It provides me a place to express myself. I stay pretty true to myself, there have been times when I have wished that I had an alias for the blog so I could talk about things that I can't but then #2 wouldn't have worked very well.
2. I have "met" an incredible number of amazing women through blogging. I have to thank Shimelle Lane for bringing so many of them into my life. I met many through her Blogging for Scrapbookers class and some of you I met through these women.
3. I am inspired and motivated by challenges, by seeing others' work and listening to others' stories.
4. I have a record of much of the last 5 years, I've been more prolific as the years have gone by...oh now I am at 4, I feel I have to do 5 lol so
5. My inconsistency has been welcomed. I have always said with me the consistency is my inconsistency and you have reassured me that you do indeed like that about me.

Now, I readily admit that I am a procrastinator when it comes to going to the post office and things go to the side and don't make it where they should...apologies. But I do have a personality that carries guilt, owing someone a goodie hangs over me like a dark cloud so this week I plan to make good on those I owe something to, hoping all the right people find something in their mailbox!
And since I have to go to the mailbox I might as well do a few giveaways to celebrate, don't you think?!  If you are interested in being in the drawing for a prize you must leave a comment on the blog telling me the letters of the prizes you are interested in, if "all" you can just say "all". I'll do all the drawings Sunday and announce them in my hello monday post.

b. 2 rolls of washi tape (purple set)

  3. Congratulations! I have only recently started reading your blog regularly and love it. This post made me smile this morning - such a happy post with so many reasons to be grateful in it.I love catching up with what you are up to and I know exactly what you mean about having a record of what has happened in your life over the past 5 years - I do keep a journal and of course my scrapbooks, but it is lovely to have a blog too. I would love to be put in the draw for a, c and e - thank you! And looking forward to the next 5 years :)

    1. Thanks, Becky. I am sporadic at journaling so the blog is a great fallback for me. Wow, 5 years from now, I'll be almost 60....I won't think about that for awhile lol

  5. Happy anniversary! I've always enjoyed reading your blog and it's been several years now since I discovered it via Shimelle. But today my husband loves it too. After reading it this morning I said to him 'I've got to go into town this morning to buy doughnuts.' His face it up! You see, there is a shop in town that sells the most delicious doughnuts, no where else gets the same taste or texture. Our doughnuts are a ball shape, covered in sugar with a pool of jam in the middle so when you bite in ... oh wow! There is an urban myth that you cannot eat a doughnut without licking your lips as you just end up covered in sugar and it's so true. When I think of American doughnuts I think of Krispy Kreme ones and they are SO different to ours. You will see photographic evidence later on today ;-)
I think A and B would be my first choices if I were lucky enough to win.

  6. Many congratulations on your 5th! And it has been a pleasure to share a bit of it with you :). And such a generous offer of nice things - I wouldn't want you to have to cope with transatlantic charges for heavy things so perhaps you could pop me in a) the pink washi tape draw? Hoping you enjoy a feeling of achievement!
