Too rainy for outdoor recess?

So that is the question this morning.  The rains (of Ida?) are edging their way here and I am thinking by 10:30 when my class goes out to recess it may be out of the question.  Some of these kids realllllly need recess!  In some ways staying in could work to my advantage...there are certainly a few things I could use the time to catch up on while they have free time, I wouldn't have to watch their faces as the clock hands get closer (and sometimes pass) to 10:30 during math, it could???? be relaxing but 25 fifth graders, two with severe ADHD that don't always remember their meds and throw in a few with behavior control issues and hmmmm is playing  in the rain realllly such a bad thing  :)  thinking the principal would say yes :/  Have a glorious day duckies!

  1. Unless it is really cold, our kids usually go out in the rain for recess. Playing in the rain is fun!

  2. I agree send them out in the rain, it will do them a world of good to get some fresh air and you will enjoy the little break.

  5. ahhh but no one, kids or adults in North Carolina has wellies :) It ended up not raining at that time so we went out. No one in the schools here goes out when it rains ...having to be out there when its 58 degrees and raining spells whiney children and misery to me.

  7. Ahh, indoor recess, bleh! Luckily, our school has a covered area outside, where the kids can at least get some fresh air and bounce a ball for a bit. Only when it's storming REALLY hard do they stay in. Glad you made it out!
