Norman Rockwell Exhibit

image from Norman Rockwell Art Collection Trust

Norman Rockwell has been my favorite artist and illustrator since I was a teenager. Over the years I have collected plates, ornaments, figurines and books featuring his work. The Art of Norman Rockwell exhibit is currently at the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh. The exhibit runs through the end of the month so if you are nearby and haven't been I, of course, highly suggest you do so. Tickets for timed entrance are only $15 and you get to spend a couple of hours seeing art that makes you laugh, cry, reflect and appreciate the way the world was.
When we did the Northeast and Canada trip with the boys in 2002 one of the highlights for me was visiting the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Stockbridge is a charming town where Rockwell spent his later years and the people and places were used as models in some of his later works.

Stephen and the boys were wonderful about the amount of time I wanted to spend there (of course I had already paid my dues going to umpteen forts) and they didn't even roll their eyes that I had tears rolling down my face many times while we were there.

  2. Lovely photos and inspiring quotes from him - being across the seas, I won't get to the exhibition, but all going to go and google him right now.
