Simply a Moment

Simply a Moment
Christie is helping you settle into bed for a nap and I have gone to the other side of the bed. I bend over to pull up the guardrail and you make a moaning sound. I pop up close to you and ask what is wrong. You reply a bit startled,
"OH! I thought you were gone, I wanted to see you. I want you to stay."
"Well, I have this trick I do, when people close their eyes. I disappear, it's magic!"
"I'm glad you are here"
And I am too, I scootch up beside you on the bed. We smile at each other then I lean forward to focus on the TV to learn about the selection of a new pope. You begin to very gently and soothingly rub my back. I sigh. Then you reach up and start playing with my hair, I am able to watch you in the mirror above your dresser.
"I looove your hair!"
"Well, it's awfully curly today, I let God dry it on the way here."
You smile and we snuggle up together and hold hands as you drift into slumber.
I looove you, Special One!

Simply a Moment is a monthly opportunity to stop and be observant..just for a moment. This month in particular I am so grateful that Alexa started this last year. I am not the best about recording the snippets of life. I was one of those mamas that always planned to write down all the things my boys said but never did it. This moment in time I want to remember in the years that lay ahead of us.
Thank you, dear Alexa.

From Alexa's  Wednesday post at Trimming the Sails
"... a state of mind and a state of feeling ... which can express a world of seeing, listening, smelling, tasting and feeling in the recording of a single moment".

Simply a Moment, I thought. Here, every middle of the month. That's just what it does. Though, of course, it's not just here: far from it! Across thousands of miles, there were over twenty of us in February, sharing a simple moment of our lives with each other - the beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete ...

Should you like to join in again, or for the first time, this month (it is the 15th this Friday), then you will be most welcome to enrich the gathering of voices with your own unique one. You don't need to write a lot, remember, or even anything at all - you might just have a photo or a snippet of art journalling. The Linky will be here as usual and it will be open for a fortnight, so any time after that is fine too!

I very much liked the subheading of Serena Barton's pdf: Finding inspiration and beauty in the ordinary. Isn't that just what we are about? Do come and inspire us with yours ...Alexa
