I
am sitting at the kitchen table in lightweight pants, tennis shoes and a long
sleeve ECU t-shirt. I am cold, not cold enough to get up and put on more layers
but cold enough that it keeps grabbing my attention. I am resigned to winter
cold but having just experienced 3 days in the 70s I need readjustment time.
Funny, the temps have dropped but the birds are singing loudly and at least 5
species are feeding. The Chosen One is so proud of his handmade feeders and is
so good about keeping them filled. There are two beautiful bluebirds on one, a
deep red cardinal on another and a red headed woodpecker on yet another. The
squirrels seem to have claimed the new snowman feeder. I'm getting hungry but
will have to wait another 30 minutes per medication requirement. The hedge is
moving..I wonder if it's a bird, squirrel, rabbit or the neighbor's cat who
thinks it's his litter box. I glance over at my sketchbook and smile because I
finally have inspiration for a special piece I want to create but ughhh the
studio has to be cleaned first. The refrigerator hums.

everything for that one moment in time. This is my first time sharing,
hopefully not my last

ReplyDeletethank you, Louise :)
DeleteSo clearly described, Beverly, that I have had to get up and put an extra woolly on! How lovely to have those glorious birds - is this the red cardinal? Wondering about and looking forward to more about that special piece ... and hope you got something to eat finally and sorted the studio. So delighted to read your post and thank-you so much for joining in :).
ReplyDeleteAlexa, not nearly as cold here as where you are, thankfully! This is a cardinal pic from a different day. I knew if I got up to find the camera, change lenses .... a)the cardinal would be gone and b) the moment would be lost.
DeleteI hope it's not your last moment shared. I loved reading your descriptions of the birds feeding.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Miriam, hopefully I can make it a monthly habit :)
DeleteOh I miss Cardinals - they are my Mom's favourites. I remember watching the deer feeding on bird feeds in PA, definitely doesn't happen in London! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing - and I hope you enjoy creating and share it too.
Cardinals are our state bird and we get quite a few to our feeders, love the bright red boys :)
DeleteLove your "moment of inspiration." Can't wait to see what ends up in your sketchbook.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rinda, that bit of inspiration actually got me on a roll :)
DeleteYour photo is perfect for the moment Beverly - don't you hate it when the cleaning gets in the way of the doing?1
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely and sometimes the mess in the studio is so overwhelming I just turn around and walk out :( Happy to say some good cleaning and creating took place!
DeleteGreat moment! It's suddenly a good deal colder here too & I keep forgetting to put my sweater back at my desk
ReplyDeleteOur 70 degree days definitely fooled my body, we're looking at possible snow tomorrow night.
DeleteHow lovely to be able to sit and watch those beautiful birds feeding at your handmade feeders. You have captured your moment so well.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to see those birds from your windows ~ only London sparrows and robins here. I invested in a squirrel-proof bird feeder when we were first married and over seven years later, it still does the job. I like squirrels, I just don't want to spoil the bird feed for the intended recipients!
ReplyDeleteA perfect moment.
How lovely to have all those birds to watch...we have mainly sparrows at this time of year...we had a robin before Christmas, but he hasn't been around for a couple of weeks now! TFS your moment
ReplyDeleteAlison xx
Loved reading this and the bird is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice look at this moment in your life & it sounds like a lovely view with all those birds. Cold days here, too, this past week!
ReplyDeleteIt's always a treat to look out and see the birds - especially the colorful ones. Good for the Chosen One for encouraging them. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOh I loved reading this - my moment is also about watching the birds feeding!! I love the photo of the cardinal - he's so handsome! Thanks for sharing - J xx
