“She is leaving him, not all at once, which would be painful enough, but in a wrenching succession of separations. One moment she is here, and then she is gone again, and each journey takes her a little farther from his reach. He cannot follow her, and he wonders where she goes when she leaves.”
― Debra Dean, The Madonnas of Leningrad

ReplyDeleteI remember stumbling across that quotation once before, and it moved me just as much this time xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a moving quote. A friend of mine whose father suffers with Alzheimers once described it as 'the longest goodbye' which is summed up in your quote beautifully.
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quote & a lovely photo to go with it.
