Blogging for Scrapbookers Round 2 of Course 1 - Refresh and Renew Me

Back in the fall of 2009 I took a course called Blogging for Scrapbookers offered by Shimelle Laine. It was a fun and busy three weeks. I learned alot, was introduced to some very cool blogs and met some even cooler women (sorry I vaguely remember that there may have been one guy). I have followed quite a few of their blogs over the last 18 months and enjoy seeing their perspectives on the world and the journeys life takes them on.

I go through spells where I think I will be a more consistent blogger (you may see this over the next 2 months bec I am taking this course then a new followup course) but have found the one thing I am consistent about (other than my Sunday Song of Praise) is being inconsistent lol And the beautiful thing is I am alright with that. I don't really want things in my life that are going to stress me and make me feel compelled to put something out there just because it's Tuesday. Alot of blog experts say that your readers expect and appreciate a sense of your posting schedule and what to expect from you. It's a wonderful thing that there are soooo many blogs out there and I don't have to disappoint those types of readers :)  They also suggest you find your niche ... hmmm I'm really not hitting on much on this expert advice : /   When you come to see me, you never know what you are going to get...it may be craft related, it may be business related, it may be food related, more often or not it is people related but what you can always count on is that is somehow me and what matters ot me related! I think what I want to share with people taking Shimelle's class and trying to figure out what they want their blog to be is ..have it be YOU. Choose a style and posting schedule and topic(s) that you feel good about, that you are at peace with and go from there.

I was thrilled the other day when my visitor count hit 5000! I have 30 followers and just today found out that people that subscribe through Google reader don't show up like people that choose to follow through Google Friend Coonect. Thanks to Shimelle I now know I have 54 subscribers through Reader. Whhhooohhhooo. AND it's 82 and sunny in my part of the world, as Zac Brown would say "life is good today"

  2. My blog is the same way - and I love "consistently inconsistent", that's how I roll :) Looking forward to reading your blog and taking the class with you.

  3. I love arriving on a blog and not knowing what I'm going to find that day - so that works for me. I do have a posting schedule, but that's mainly because I would probably say "oh, I'll do it tomorrow" ALL the time otherwise!

It's going to be very interesting to see where the advanced class takes us, isn't it?

  4. You make some very valid points, Beverly. For a while I was trying to post every day but it became a bit stressful and felt more like one more thing I HAD to do. I allowed myself to blog without obligation and it felt better - and more natural for me.

I haven't really found a "niche" either and tend to be random but I like it like that. And that's one of the things I love about your blog as well! xo

  8. Hi...just stopping by from BFS. I agree with a lot of what you said in your post, esp. that what and when you blog has to be personally satisfying. Good luck with the class.
