This month I thought I would focus on one of my favorite subjects...food and not just any food but the food that means home and memories to me. Food that I crave and enjoy to this day. I could have had a very long list but it being Ten Things day I forced myself to choose just ten of the ones I love. I give you...
TEN TRULY SOUTHERN FOODS
Banana Pudding
Boiled Peanuts
Collard Greens
Country Ham Biscuits
Eastern North Carolina Barbecue
Fried Chicken
Grits
Pimento Cheese
Tomato Sandwich
This post is part of Shimelle's TEN THINGS blogging event that takes place on the tenth of each month. Our only direction is whatever we post about it must be ten, not 9, not 11, TEN. To see what others' have chosen for their TEN this month head over to www.shimelle.com (as of 7:15am EDSt Shimelle's post has not gone live but through my Reader I have been able to checkout a dozen Ten Things. They are awesome, so if the Shimelle link doesn't take you to her Ten Things post be sure to check back to this post at a later time to try it and click on the links shown in Shimelle's post.) I hope your day is a glorious TEN!

*name of chosen dish must be to me by the 20th
*I will confirm with you a few days before that you are definitely participating
*Blog hop goes live midnight on the 30th of each month Eastern Daylight Savings Time in the Unites States

How interesting to see some of the things I have read about in books! Personally, the Banana Pudding appeals to me most!
ReplyDeleteAlison xx
Lots of those things are totally new to me! It's great to see foods that are typical of a certain area and I shall certainly be checking a few of them out to see what I am missing (especially that banana pudding!)
ReplyDeleteI'm from the North so some of those foods are not common up here, but they do look yummy! I'm guessing none of those dishes will be featured on your lighten up blog hop. :) You gotta love comfort food!
ReplyDeleteMost of these are new to me! I'm with Alison - the banana pudding looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh my mouth is watering. I think it's time for lunch!
ReplyDeleteNow all I can think about is food, especially southern:-) Very sweet blog and love the name. Hopped from Love of Blogs today.
ReplyDeleteHi Beverly. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love your list of ten. I used to live in SC and miss many of the wonderful foods you have listed. I still eat grits (preferably with shrimp), but don't get to eat pimento cheese unless I make it myself. It's not available in the midwest.
ReplyDeleteLots of these dishes are new to me, I now feel very hungry!
ReplyDeleteI am fascinated by the boiling peanuts one - what does it to to them and how long do you boil them for?
ReplyDeleteLove this post.
I've never had real southern food - your post is making me want to visit and try some. Banana pudding looks delicious and I'm mighty curious about boiled peanuts.
ReplyDeleteWow, that banana pudding looks divine, I think I need to find a recipe for that one. Oh and I tried the tomato sandwich last week and I'm hooked :-)
ReplyDeleteThose are truly southern foods, as I'm from New England and have only had 2 of the 10 listed!
ReplyDeleteI related to some of those!!!enjoyed my visit!

ReplyDeleteMmm.. They all look tasty! I love banana pudding :)
ReplyDeleteyummy list of foods. Some I have heard of but not all of them.
ReplyDeleteYumm! I love them all. I'm an Asian of origin but I love tomato sandwich with mayo and fresh ground peppers for breakfast.
ReplyDeleteI'm seriously starving now! I need some sweet tea to go along with your goodies!
ReplyDeleteI lived in Chapel Hill for several years, and your post makes me really miss it. Thanks for reminding me of how good southern food is. :-)
ReplyDeleteYummy list - I would have to add Mama's biscuits & chicken & dumplins as they were my childhood favorites.
