So many of the comments left for my Alphanumeric Blog Hop post were about the Bacon Birthday Cake I knew I had to revisit the post I shared the day after the Grown One's birthday this year. My oldest LOVES bacon. He and the Sweet One had their own personal BaconFest 2 years ago and last year invited the Chosen One, Baby Boy, his gf and me to join them. BaconFest 2011 will be in the next few months! If you go back and read the original post you'll see how the cake came about. There is a thing called pig candy which is fried bacon dipped in chocolate...bacon and chocolate..a good thing ;) The cake is chocolate with cream cheese frosting with all the "writing" being created with bacon. Some of you seemed intrigued, some salivated and some were disgusted....but all that really matters is the look on the Grown One's face.
What are your loved ones favorite foods?
My OH once decided it would be a good idea to have garlic dough balls dipped in chocolate fondue. My BF still buys him themonce in a while. Novelty has worn off but I am fascinated by this. Wonder what the kids at school would think to this one :0)
ReplyDeleteI am on the salivating end of the spectrum. yum!
ReplyDeleteI loved this post when you first showed it, Beverly, and it still makes me want to make cake with bacon on it! Haha.
ReplyDeleteI did a post a couple of years ago about the chocolate syrup my mom made for pancakes when we were kids. It's our FAVORITE and is even better with a few slices of bacon to dip in the chocolate! You can see my original post here: http://paperturtle.blogspot.com/2009/12/whats-for-lunch-breakfast.html
I am on the disgusted end of the spectrum with this one, bacon & chocolate? no thanks lol. My sons favourite is anything between 2 slices of bread! cheese & ham being number 1.
ReplyDelete........ no Im still disgusted! Bacon needs to be between 2 slices of bread & butter with a little ketchup.... mmm!!
ReplyDeleteWe all love our spaghetti bolognese & garlic bread in this house :))
My boys would loooooove this!
ReplyDeleteJust popping in to say hi since I'm also taking Shimelle's class!
lol! I remember the original post - and I still can't quite get my head round the idea of bacon and chocolate!! My The Doctor loves bacon, but in a sandwich or as part of a full English breakfast with sausages, eggs, toast, baked beans.....
ReplyDeleteSo glad you revisited this - I'm positive that chocolate is one of the major food groups and could eat an entire slab of bacon by myself if provoked! LOL I am going to have to melt some chocolate & dip my bacon in one day soon to see how these two flavors meld.
ReplyDeleteI think it is great that you did it. I don't think that I could eat it, but the look on his face is priceless. :)
ReplyDeleteOh dear, each to their own preferences I suppose! Funny, but my colleague loves bacon too, but she also passed on the bacon cake. Did you know there is a bacon scent out? Seriously!! LOL
ReplyDeleteThx for reposting this Beverly...don't think I fancy it though I know people who would think it a great idea!
ReplyDeleteAlison xx
The cake looks amazing, but I don't think I'd fancy a slice. Love bacon and chocolate, just not in the same mouthful!
